The Office Jester… every office needs one to point and laugh at office fails
We have a long one for you today folks. No, not the post, we mean the video. Although we won’t know how long this post will be till we actually finish writing it. After all, it isn’t all that rare for us to get textual diarrhoea when we’re enjoying ourselves. And, yes we like to talk like the kings of old and use terms like we, us, and garderobe (not in a single sentence though).
The medieval theme is strong with us as you’ve, no doubt, gathered with the name of this series (Office Jester) and our constant use of pretentious terms. However, we still live in the modern day and haven’t yet invented a time machine that will allow us to go back to enact our fantasies, we have to focus on office terms too.
Therein lies the endless conundrum that is this Office Jester post. You see, this post is about office fails. There is no way that we can bridge the linguistic gap between office fails and our penchant for medieval terms. It is modern and it is silly, which nullifies medieval talk and graceful talk.
So, what do you say, we just ditch that theme altogether. Yes, we know you’re relieved. And, yes, we know that we are still using “we”. We’ve been given the licence to “we”. Don’t worry, we won’t “wee”…Office Jester everyone with Office Fails!
Office Fails in the Modern Age
You know what stood out for us in that whole video? It was the fact that printers piss off a lot of people. Now, someone might argue that we’re predisposed to spotting something like that. However, statistically speaking, and there’s nothing more logical than numbers, there were far more instances of people losing their marbles over their printers not working than most other things.
The only thing that put printers in its place is computers and laptops. Therefore folks, if you don’t want your employees to go bonkers and start wrecking your equipment, we suggest you ensure that your office’s equipment in top condition. Have them serviced, replace them with new ones at the right time, and make sure that you have the right consumables (shameless and unabashed plug).
The best clip in this 21 minute video, according to us, was the one right at the beginning where the guy takes a mock swing with what is probably his boss’s golf club in what is probably his boss’s favourite conference room. The reaction is priceless too of course.
Then, there is the fight over AC between two incredibly calm and composed men who end up slugging each other out of the blue. We’ve all had this fight in our offices even it didn’t lead to fisticuffs.
We’d also like to pinpoint the clip at 11:30 to you. Believe it or not, there are people who play games on their office PCs. We’ve had our phase of Need for Speed II split screen knockout competition in which the whole office competes.
However, the clip here shows what we believe to be Counter Strike and a man’s reaction to probably getting shot in it. Since he goes at his colleague’s computer right after, we’re assuming that his colleague shot him. His colleague must’ve felt real pride in getting such a reaction out of the other guy. Games live for that!
Tell us what you feel about this video. Have you hurdled chairs and straddled air balls? Have you played video games at work and lost your cool? Have you seen someone do that? Let us know below!
