Inkjet Wholesale News aims to provide updates on the latest significant occurrences in the field of printing. Whether it’s the launch of a new technology or volatility of market prices, we’ll be here to give you the lowdown on what happened, when it happened, and what it means!

Supertank EcoTank Printers – Epson WorkForce ET-16500 & Expression ET-3600 Introduced by OEM

Epson WorkForce ET-16500Epson has been on a real high lately. Since June, there has been nothing but good news for the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). In the beginning of June, the OEM launched two new all-in-one printers meant for home offices – the Epson WorkForce WF-2760 and WF-2750. At the end of the same month, the OEM released the Epson Expression Home XP 430 which it dubbed the “Small-in-one”. That was followed by the Robustelli acquisition in July and the addition of 3 new designer edition configurations to the Epson SureColor P-Series of printers in August.

Now, the company has decided to expand its much appreciated EcoTank Portfolio by adding two new Supertank category printers in the form of the Epson WorkForce ET-16500 and the Epson Expression ET-3600. Each of these printer models sports a supersized ink tank as opposed to conventional ink cartridges. These supersized ink tanks can be refilled with ease and in an economical manner. For instance, both the Epson WorkForce ET-16500 and the Expression ET-3600 come packed with two years’ worth of ink.

Direct comparison between these ink tanks and conventional ink cartridge system shows that the former is equivalent to about 50 ink cartridge sets of the latter. 50 ink cartridge sets amount to about 11,000 colour printed pages. Thus, when the ink actually does run out, replacing it results in savings of more than 80 percent.

According to the OEM, both these printers are all-in-one devices that are based around a completely new printing system. The printing system, which is being used in all Supertank category printers, is designed explicitly to deliver laser quality performance. The Epson WorkForce ET-16500 and the Expression ET-3600, both offer multiple connectivity options including Wi-Fi Direct. As is obvious Epson Connect solutions are also pertinent to these printer models. Both these features allow for hassle-free mobile printing.

The Epson WorkForce ET-16500 is a wide format all-in-one printer that is based on the PrecisionCore technology. It has the distinction of being the first wide format printer model within the Supertank category. Right out of the box, the Epson WorkForce ET-16500 will have a capacity to generate up to 10,500 black pages and 11,000 colour pages which puts it within the league of small to medium scale businesses. The printer can print pages as wide as 330mm x 482.6mm and scan pages as wide as 279.4mm x 431.8mm. The total paper capacity of the Epson WorkForce ET-16500 is 500 sheets but there is also a feeder at the back for specialty paper types. Epson has taken care of navigation on the Epson WorkForce ET-16500 by providing a 109.2mm colour touchscreen.

The Epson Expression ET-3600 is also an all-in-one printer but it is designed for the Small Office, Home Office (SOHO) segment. This is something that reflects in its pricing and features as well. The ET-3600’s printing capacity is much lower than that of Epson WorkForce ET-16500 when it comes to colour prints but slightly higher with respect to monochrome prints. Out of the box, the ET-3600 can generate up to 11,000 monochrome prints and 8,500 colour prints. This printer model is also known for its speed of printing which is rated at 13.7 pages per minute (ppm) for monochrome and 7.3 ppm for colour. The total paper capacity of the Epson Expression ET-3600 is 150 sheets but there’s a very useful additional feature of automatic duplexing. As per Epson’s announcement, the Epson WorkForce ET-16500 and Expression ET-3600 both will be made available to customers by the middle of the next month.

SALIDO Certifies 3 Epson POS Printers; Becomes an Epson Envision mSelect Partner

Epson TM-m30The good news for Epson continues but this time it is relevant to its value added Point of Sale (POS) solutions department. The good news comes in the form of certification from SALIDO for the Epson TM-m30, the Epson TM-T88V, and the Epson TM-U220 mobile POS printers. SALIDO has certified these Epson printer models with respect to its integrated cloud based restaurant management system.

The three Epson printer models in question are all designed to be significant contributors to Epson’s POS solutions. The Epson TM-m30 is a receipt printer that can print 76.2mm receipts from all types of devices including smartphones, tablets, and PCs. The most notable feature of the TM-m30 is that it only requires one power source for printers and mobile devices alike, which is something not available with its competitors. This printer supports front loading as well as top loading depending upon the need of the hour.

The TM-T88V is a thermal printer that is mainly known for its print speed. This thermal printer can print at speeds up to 300mm per second. It also has printing options designed to reduce printing costs by up to 30 percent. Like the TM-m30, the TM-T88V is compatible with all types of mobile operating systems including Windows, Android, and iOS. The Epson TM-U220 can be either seen as a kitchen printer or a receipt printer. Just like the TM-T88V, the TM-U220 is also categorically designed for speeding throughput as well as compatibility with all mobile operating systems. Additionally, the TM-U220 can be used for printing exceptions in two colour tones, logo printing, and even right side up printing.

Apart from certifying three Epson printers, SALIDO has also decided to join the OEM’s Epson Envision mSelect Partner programme. Members of the programme receive access to a wide variety of tools, resources, and support systems from Epson. These include everything from education and training to marketing and technical support. There are even crucial sales incentives designed to facilitate conversions.

According to SALIDO, aligning with Epson will allow it to benefit from “high-standard Epson POS solutions and the mSelect programme”. SALIDO, essentially, provides unified restaurant management solutions designed to give restaurant owners the power to analyse their customer base and sales trends. These solutions provide restaurant owners insight into their own customer base and operations through the use of unified and integrated software.
